Scioto Families Impacted by Fires in Need

While many of you are already aware of this very sad news, we have Scioto families who were impacted by an apartment fire recently. Our Scioto Administrative team is currently working closely with the families to help and have asked for gift cards to local stores such as Kroger, Meijer, Target etc. If you would like to donate gift cards, you can drop them off anytime to the front office with a note “PTO, Families in Need” and the team will make sure the cards get appropriately distributed to the families right away.

The Scioto PTO has also set up a QR code and a PayPal link (see below) to make monetary donations that will be transferred to the Administrative Team, so they can assist in making necessary purchases.
If you have any questions for the PTO, please do not hesitate to ask on our Facebook Page(s)  The Dublin Scioto High School PTO  or The Dublin Scioto High School PTO Parent Group  or email us at ptodublinscioto@gmail.com

We will continue to update this blog as needs come up. Thank you for all of your continued support.  We have great faith our Irish community will come together and rally around these families to help them in their time of need.

Cafe Thrift

It’s that time of year again that our students go thrifting.  As you know, students love to go thrifting, and for the past 9 years we have been bringing the love of thrifting to our Scioto students for FREE.

Starting now, if you have gently used clothing that you would like to donate, you can drop them off at the main office during school.  We are looking for both boys’ and girls’ clothing of all sizes, XS to XXL.  Simply bag up your donation and send it to school either with your student or you can drop it off at the main office at Scioto.

If you are a new parent here at Scioto, here is just a little history about Scioto’s Café Thrift. It was started by the Teachers, PTO and Students about 6 years ago. We collect gently used clothes from now until Monday, December 6th.  On the big day, Tuesday, December 7th we display all the clothing, and beginning from 7:25 a.m. to the end of the school day.  Did I mention if it FREE.   Also, it is important to note that we encourage all students to shop.  Scioto’s Café Thrift is open to everyone.  This is a popular school event that is always well attended by all the students.  Mr. Scott allows the students to shop during lunch, study hall and other opportunities during the day. Our students love to thrift.

It is wonderful to announce that Plato’s Closet will once again be a sponsor for the event.  Plato’s Closet will also be donating clothes and will have a table at the event.  Plato’s will also have coupons on hand for the students on December 7th.

If you would like to volunteer, you can do so in a few ways.  We will be looking for volunteers to pick up clothing at the Dublin Plato’s Closet location near Kroger’s.  Also, if you would like to help organize all the clothing for our big day, listed below are the dates.   Look for Sign-Up Genius on the PTO website or contact Kathy Harter rharter@columbus.rr.com.

Items we are looking for include-Dresses, Dresses and more Dresses. Prom dresses would also be great! Purses, Shoes, boots, and jewelry are also great to donate.  Very popular items include girls’ shirts, leggings, jeans, shorts and coats, guy pants, dress shirts, belts, shoes, jeans and casual shirts.  Coats and hoodies go quickly and are always a need.

We have several special tables that go very well.  If you have OSU shirts, sweat shirts or anything OSU, it goes over well.  Baby clothes and little kids’ clothing also goes well.  The Scioto Spirit Wear table is very popular and always goes fast at Café Thrift.  We are looking for Scioto sportswear, pants, shirts, hoodies, etc.  Thanks to the athletic teams that empty out their closets to donate to the event.  Also, we can always use hangers.

Below are the dates for parents organizing clothing during the day.  We will be meeting at Scioto.  Please sign in at the main office and we can meet you.  We try and set-up dates for students to come in and help after school.

Look for those times at a later date.

Cafe Thrift-December 7, 2021

The 10th Annual Dublin Scioto Cafe Thrift, where the entire school goes Thrifting for free!

Cafe Thrift is Tuesday, December 7, 2021.  We are in need of parent volunteers to help sort and fold clothing donations prior to Dec. 7th.  On Dec. 6th parents along with students will set-up Cafe Thrift.

On Dec. 7th we will need parents to help at the event from 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please consider helping us out with this super fun event! (Sign up Genius Below)

We also have a very special ask… If you are able to pick up donations at Plato’s Closet and transport them to the loading dock at Dublin Schoto High School, once a week, please reach out to Kathy Harter at rharter@columbus.rr.com or 614-738-8672.  Plato’s Closet has been a great supporter of Cafe Thrift and we appreciate all their donations.  You will need a large vehicle.

Scioto’s CAFE THRIFT was created by Teachers, PTO and Students in 2011. We collect gently used clothes from the community all year round.  At the event, we display all the clothing on tables and racks from 7:15 a.m. through the end of the school day.  We are open for all students to pick out any clothing, shoes, prom dresses, purses, boots, belts, jewelry, etc. that they would like.   CAFE THRIFT is open to ALL students at Scioto

This is a very popular school event and is always well attended.  Students are allowed to shop during lunch and study hall.  Also, if a teacher wishes to bring their students down, they are welcome to do so.

Thank you for your donation and sorting clothing!
